Burning Witch: Performance Footage Posted On Line
Posted on Tuesday, January 19th, 2010
Whale Bone Productions has uploaded professionally filmed video footage (see below) of Burning Witch’s February 6th, 1997 performance on 29 Live ep #56. A DVD containing this full set will be included in the forthcoming Burning Witch vinyl box, on Southern Lord.
“Graffitti is on the wall in the back ground level spot at the miserable Institution rehearsal studios in Seattle, cant believe thats still there!”, says Stephen ‘O Malley, “Edgy sprayed that in 1995-6. We got kicked out of that room by the way, either because we were too loud or because I kicked a hole in the wall. Cant recall. Good times.”

Posted on Saturday, August 1st, 2009
The crossover drone duo are known for time spent in galleries and their eclectic collaborations (from Tony Conrad to Attila Csihar to Dennis Cooper to Julian Cope and back), so it’s not surprising to hear Flight Of The Behemoth’s “O)))BOW1″ soundtracking a particularly arty commercial for Norway’s (of course) Anti-Sweden ...read more

Clean Hands Go Foul, the fourth and likely final full-length from late experimental metal outsiders Khanate, deserves a warning label: “Not recommended for those with mild-to-severe mental disturbances,” it could read before countering, “Well, just promise not to hurt anyone, OK?”
Its brittle, monstrous tones shake whatever space they enter. ...read more

Grayson Currin of Pitchfork recently conducted an interview with Sunn 0))). An excerpt from the article follows below.
Judging by the consistent criticism that Sunn O)))’s metal-based drone experimentation suffers– that is, it’s boring, self-serious, humorless, and mean– perhaps one wouldn’t expect Greg Anderson and Stephen O’Malley to be cruising around ...read more

JamMin of Terrorizer.com recently conducted an interview with Thorr’s Hammer’s Runhild Gammelsæter. An excerpt from the interview follows below.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or find anything slower than Agoraphobic Nosebleed “a bit dull and uninteresting”, you’ve probably heard that legendary doom troupe Thorr’s Hammer (the Thorr’s Hammer that ...read more
Album of the day: Sunn 0))) – The GrimmRobe Demos (Southern Lord 2005)

(From our archives): When it came to ambient drone soundscapes, Dylan Carlson was a visionary. His seminal recordings with Earth blazed a new trail through the wilderness of possibility for distorted electric guitar. The drone-riff spectacular, Extra-Capsular Extraction was treated as a novelty by many listeners – especially since it ...read more
