Roadburn’s Album of the Day has become a tradition. Now that the year is drawing to a close, we here at Roadburn HQ want to invite our loyal readers, friends, associates and anyone who might have wandered in to help us compile a list of favorite records released in 2011.
The year was filled with tons of great doom, drone, psychedelica, heavy ’70s, space rock, post rock and avant-metal releases, and it will be interesting to see how it narrows down to 10 favorites.
Add your top 10 Roadburn-worthy albums to the comments section and we’ll do the rest. Please be sure to post your picks by Monday, January 2nd. We’ll unveil the final list for 2011 in the second week of the New Year.

The incorporeal beings were captured by a lucky attendee who – by posting the footage online – spreads the sect’s sacrilegious scripture to new and nescient minds across ...read more

I remember clearly that I didn’t sleep too much after the first night. Maybe because I was too tired after that marathon and partly because I was still in shock over what happened during the previous day – mostly due to Wovenhand’s performance. Nothing was quite the same after that ...read more

“The Caspar Brötzmann Massaker, which came out of nowhere and knocked my socks off. Also saw an euphoric Michael Gira as high on life as he could be, dancing and cheering by the stage like a teenager, yelling “Louder!!” every 5 minutes. I couldn’t believe it, it was so awesome. ...read more

Roadburn 2011 ended a little over three weeks ago, yet I am just now getting around to being able to write about it. Had I done so immediately following, the review would consisted of little more than all-caps and mindless babble. The enormity and awesomeness of the festival shocked me, ...read more
