Little Rock, Ark. doom merchants Pallbearer– a melodic, smoked-up quartet featuring a vocalist who sings– premiere a new song via Pitchfork called An Offering of Grief. Culled from their debut full-length, Sorrow and Extinction (due out February 21 on Profound Lore), An Offering of Grief highlights Pallbearer’s progressive, 1970s-leaning take. Check it out HERE.

Posted on Tuesday, November 29th, 2011
Pitchfork‘s Brandon Stosuy lists his top 40 metal albums of the year (and then some) in the latest installment of Show No Mercy: I’ve been making these sorts of lists long enough to know they’re not an exact science, and they don’t please everyone. In the end, they’re snapshots that ...read more
Album of the day: Boris – New Album
Posted on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011
Lovingly pinched from Pitchfork: In recent years, Boris‘ self-mythologizing has been the most interesting part of their project. Lovingly pinched from Pitchfork: Plenty of bands play music that sounds dark, but few can make every note bleed black and breathe smoke. Count Locrian as part of that select circle. Album of the day: Chelsea Wolfe – Apokalypsis
Posted on Tuesday, October 18th, 2011
Lovingly pinched from Pitchfork: The image that Chelsea Wolfe projects dovetails with the general aesthetic put forth by her label, Pendu NYC. Granted, it’d take the tinniest of ears to conflate Wolfe’s music with the witch-house stylings of Mater Suspiria Vision or White Ring. Also, while her music is caustic ...read more
