Jarboe about her appearance at Roadburn Festival 2010

Posted on Thursday, November 26th, 2009

Former Swans chanteuse Jarboe has aligned herself with the constantly mutating world of Avant-Metal by her recent collaborations with  Neurosis, Cobalt and Jesu. She has also forged her own path with her feminine take on NYC dirge. Heavy, operatic and hypnotic, Jarboe’s  hydra-head vocals vary from waif whispers to shrieking litanies,  offering sonic violence and succor at the very same time.

“I will be presenting mantra in the form of dirge-like  experimental metal at Roadburn 2010 with a group of specially selected NYC based musicians (Inswarm/Cobalt -ed)”, says Jarboe, “My aim is to offer a transformative and inward experience that breaks down barriers between audience and stage.”

Jarboe will be playing Roadburn Festival 2010 on Thursday, April 15th, the 013 venue, Tilburg, Holland.

Posted on Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Lovingly pinched from Brainwashed: Jarboe is an artist that is very much at the mercy of her collaborators; a strong band behind her and she flourishes but accompanied by a weaker artist she flounders. This has made for a patchy career, the dizzying power of her performances with Swans has ...read more
