Lovingly pinched from About.com: Heavy Metal: Sweden’s In Solitude capitalize upon the visibility generated by their opening slot on the 2012 Decibel Magazine Tour with the release of their third album, Sister.

In Solitude made a name for themselves with their first two albums by treading the nether regions of New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) while combining the sound with dark occult themes; very similar to the approach first pioneered by Mercyful Fate back in the early ’80s.

themselves were influenced by the earlier occult rock albums of the ’70s, albums released by bands such as Coven. In Solitude adopt this approach on Sister, combining NWOBHM with occult rock, but give the audience their own version of the style.

Both In Solitude‘s self titled debut and their second album The World, The Flesh, The Devil were obviously influenced by Mercyful Fate with lots of catchy riffing and vocals from Pelle Ahman that seemed to be a direct descendant of those of King Diamond, albeit an octave or so lower in pitch.

Sister sees In Solitude strike out on their own by moving away a bit from Mercyful Fate while still being rooted in the NWOBHM and, even more so on this release, the bluesy strains of occult rock.
