Funeral doom titans Evoken come by Hellhole for a live performance THIS Friday, February 5!
Posted on Thursday, February 4th, 2010
Funeral doom titans Evoken will be doing a live on-air performance Friday night (Feb 05) on a radio show in NYC called ‘Hellhole’ (89.1 FM). BUT, for those outside the area, it will be available for live-streaming online through WNYU.org. The regular ‘Hellhole’ radio show begins 9 PM (EST), with Evoken’s live set to start at 9:20 PM (EST).
Formed in 1994 and hailing from Lyndhurst, New Jersey, Evoken specialize in all things down-tempo, melancholic, ethereal and down-right-crushing. While the band may be overlooked by the casual heavy metal fan, Evoken is rightfully praised by underground aficionados as one of the essential, pioneering Funeral Doom metal bands.
Their latest release, A Caress of the Void (released by I Hate Records in 2007), received widespread acclaim. Evoken also shares two members with Funebrarum (old-school s t y l ed death metal from New Jersey). Kick back and prepare for aural asphyxiation.

Bring yourself closer to the world below by listening to Hellhole every Friday night from 9-10:30 PM (EST) on WNYU 89.1 FM and WNYU.org. Featuring the most blasphemous and grim metal from across the world and from the local scene as well. Death, black, grind, doom, thrash, sludge, gore and more! New-school, old-school, retro, plus your requests; its the most extreme programming on your radio! Ticket and CD giveaways and band interviews are always part of the show. Past guests have included S.O.D., Mayhem, Immolation, Obituary, Malignancy and Evoken.
