Album of the day: SubArachnoid Space – Eight bells

Lovingly pinched from OregonLive.com: Call it what you will — a trip, a trance, a journey — but heavy instrumental four-piece SubArachnoid Space soundtracks the superconscious, with all the breadth of wonderment and horror between sleep and wake and between Dali paintings and Cortazar stories.
Guitarist Melynda Jackson moved the 14-year-old project — which is named for a cavity in the skull and helped pave the way for instru-metal stars like Pelican and Isis — to Portland from San Francisco three years ago. With bassist Daniel Barone, drummer Lauren K. Newman and guitarist Daniel Osborne, all of Portland, Eight Bells is her first release since the move and is certainly one of the most ambitious and creative releases in loud rock music this year.
