Coroner: 70000 Tons Of Metal Video Recap; Headlining Roadburn Afterburner (Less than 40 Tickets Available)

Now that we are just a little over two months away from the 2012 edition of the Afterburner, set for April 15 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland, here’s a four-minute video recap of Coroner‘s appearance at this year’s 70000 Tons Of Metal, which set sail January 23 aboard the Royal Caribbean Majesty Of The Seas.

Swiss legends Coroner will be bringing their amazingly tight brand of technical thrash metal to the 2012 Afterburner. The band picked up the thrash metal mantle in 1987 when Metallica went in a more pop direction and Megadeth began to succumb to their vices. They advanced the genre through amazing musicianship and by adding complex progressive / jazz musical elements like odd time changes and unusual modes, but always stayed true to the metal.

So advanced were the musical concepts that Coroner brought into their world of thrash metal, that their five records not only stand the test of time, but they transcend and expand the boundaries of the genre. Listening to them today is just as exhilarating and relevant as they were 20 years ago.

Once again, the Afterburner will be a full-on festival day with bands playing on the Main Stage and the Green Room, featuring  Coroner, Yob, Bongripper, Black Cobra, Internal Void, The Mount Fuji Doomjazz Corporation, Bong, Urfaust, Dragged Into Sunlight, Fleshpress, Atlantis and Electric Orange.

There are approximately 40 tickets (out of 2000) still available for Roadburn‘s traditional Afterburner. Get yours before it’s too late.
