May 8th:

Roadburn 2013 was an extravaganza of great bands from Alcest to Zodiac. Sometimes, trying to decide between shows (or get into the Green Room or Het Patronaat) was as hellish as anything screened during the Electric Acid Orgy Grindhouse Cinema. And if you couldn’t make it at all, well…

April 29th:

Following the premiere of Costin Chioreanu‘s Outside The Great Circle at this years Roadburn Festival, you can experience his visual masterpiece on line. Feast your eyes and ears on this surreal journey through the abstract depths of reality by watching Outside The Great Circle below.

April 21st:

Before the spell cast by this year’s Roadburn Festival is broken and I fall into a hibernation-like state, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated on stage, behind the scenes, and in the audience. All kinds of images from the past four days have been swirling around in the kaleidoscope of my mind. One of the most vivid is the response to The Pretty Things.

Then there are the performances by so many bands inspired by the energy to reach new heights. Perhaps my favorite is the street scene in front of the entrances to the 013 venue, V39 and Het Patronaat. There were always lots of people hanging out, meeting up with friends, talking about music in at least ten different languages, reviewing their personal running order, grabbing a bite from a food truck, getting a drink from a bar tent, rolling a smoke at a picnic table, or sprawling out on the ground in the sun.

For the first time in the festival’s history, it felt like this stretch of road became a full-fledged part of the ‘burn. No matter how often I went rushing from one building to another, I would find that I slowed down as soon as I got outside, happy to momentarily lose myself in the crowd and the vibe. Thanks for being a part of it, and see you next year! The 2014 edition of Roadburn Festival is scheduled for 10 – 13 April.
