Afterburner
Graveyard, along with Dixie Witch, Soilent Green, Sourvein and House of Broken Promises are the confirmed bands for Roadburn’s special Afterburner event on Sunday, April 18, at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.
Formed from the ashes of Unida and hailing from Indio, CA, desert trio HOUSE OF BROKEN PROMISES offers up an inviting combination of canyon-size riffs and fuzzed out desert grooves. Raucous and catchy!
Texas power-trio extraordinaire DIXIE WITCH will be unleasing their ragaging stage show (featuring new guitarist JT) at Roadburn Festival’s additional afterburner event. Anyone who has not yet seen Dixie Witch live is in for quite a treat. Their old school southern/stoner vibe is infectious and undeniable, and their professionalism is highly appreciated.
Featuring former members of 13 and Buzzov’en in their ranks, SOURVEIN offers low-tuned, balls out, southern sludge metal. Word on the streets is that they have been slaying audiences across the US for the last couple of years with their heavy-as-fuck assault.
Formed in November 2006, Sweden’s GRAVEYARD excel at creating ‘heavy psychedlic 70’s hardrock’, influenced by the likes of Cream, Leaf Hound and Blue Cheer. With their much acclaimed, Self Titled debut album under their belt, Graveyard has establish themselves as one of the most exciting bands on the contemporary heavy 70’s scene, alongside Witchcraft, Earthless and Witch to name but a few. The band is currently working on their sophomore album.
Louisiana math-sludge merchants SOILENT GREEN will be headlining Roadburn’s Afterburner. Having honed their technical prowess over recent years while overcoming an enormous amount of adversity, Soilent Green will add a psychopathically frenzied dose of death-metalized stoner grooves, and we are extremely happy to welcome them to the Roadburn stage.
We’re proud to announce a new addition to this year’s Afterburner event. Titled “Roadburn Festival Introduces”, the idea is to showcase three promising, up-and-coming Dutch bands in the psychedelic realm. Taking place at the Bat Cave stage, these bands will have the opportunity to play an intimate show and reach the international Roadburn community.
At Roadburn Festival Introduces, this year’s choices are Capital Sentimental and Oceana Company, as we feel they have something unique and interesting to offer the Roadburn audience. CAPITAL SENTIMENTAL take the best elements of Hawkwind and Ozric Tentacles and blend it with a bluesy, experimental edge a la Captain Beefheart. OCEANA COMPANY find a way to meld together prog rock, psychedelica and post rock, taking their listeners on an epic aural journey into the astral planes. THE MACHINE pairs molten universal stoner rock riffs with a fair dose of retro psych for good measure. The band also excels at some nice acid-blues jamming that lift their whole performance into outer space.
