JINXREMOVER
"The album does reflect stories and our attitudes of the times during the mid 90's, but saying that, the goal was to present the songs on 'Hospital Radio' in a fresh and current format."

Spawning from Bristol's Airbus, James Childs [of Vic Du Monte-fame], Nicholas Davidge, Simon Hedges and Christopher Fielden now resurface under the new name Jinxremover. The music is supported and performed by the original members of Airbus with James producing. Utilizing the vast catalogue of songs that Airbus wrote together to set a pace for the band's musical style which will pave the way for more recent compositions.

Jinxremover Jinxremover has just finished work on the first record called "Hospital Radio", which is to be released on the Airbus stapel label, Spira Records. The band bares band its rock 'n roll roots to all with glimmers of their varied classic influences such as, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Motorhead, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Stones, Hawkwind as well as more recent acts like The Super Furry Animals and PJ Harvey.

The band has already commenced work on a second album in Los Angeles which is to be followed by several shows in the UK and then a European tour in the Autumn in support of their records.

Words | James

In the midst of all the producing, recording and touring in Europe with Vic du Monte's Idiot Prayer and then later on Vic du Monte's Persona Non Grata, I was needing to get back to my roots. Now this band 'Jinxremover' is an extention of my former group from the UK called 'Airbus' and I decided that it was time to finish up some older compositions and in the same breath, launch a catalogue of new material under the new guise.

Dedicated to a lost and beloved friend, who was in fact the "Hospital Radio" DJ at Bristol's Royal Infirmary in the UK, and also a nod to the mighty talent of my former group 'Airbus', this album was easy to record as the band were so good in the pre-production phase.
The album does reflect stories and our attitudes of the times during the mid 90's, but saying that, the goal was to present the songs on 'Hospital Radio' in a fresh and current format.

During the recording, which spanned in between the time consuming Vic du Monte's Persona Non Grata commitments from November '05 until June '06, I had the pleasure of working again with my former Airbus bandmates, Nicholas Davidge, Christopher Fielden and Simon Hedges to produce this recording. Their precise and compelling work enabled me to achieve a truly raw and real record with the view of many more to come, for sure!!

The album was recorded at my own recording studio in Los Angeles called 'Stujo' where I have produced several records including both Vic Du Monte's records. This group of musicians are performers in the true sense of the word, so kick your shoes off and settle in for their bizzare story!
HOSPITAL RADIO> On to the songs...

Safer
This song was first recorded as a demo in 1993 in the wake of Nirvana's 'In Utero' album - we couldn't help but be influenced. There is also a strong nod to Black Sabbath's 'Symptoms of the Universe.' However, the lyrics tell a story of an individual struggling with his own selfishness. Raw and commanding, a great opener!

Jinxremover - Hospital Radio Choke
This song uses those beloved rock guitar chords coupled with that Beatles 'I'm the Walrus' vibe. I am the only one in the band who has a sister and I don't recall dressing like her, so what do you think?

Alone Again
Like skateboarding music, this song's got that Cobain feel again, but we never intended it to turn out that way. Just a good simple rock song telling a tale of feeling alone.

If There's An Angel
This song is more complex, housing everything from the The Stranglers to Prodigy to Fleetwood Mac. Crazy story of paranoia.

Nothing's For Free
This one is about that resigned feeling along with the paranoia of discovering that nothing in this world is really for free, so get used to it!

Sometimes
This song is PJ Harvey, Stranglers and the Beatles influenced. It's dark and weird, it's a song of innuendos and determination.

Rennet
A friend got ill in the UK and it was because of rennet, pigs intestines. So she happened to have an allergy to the Rennet.Other stuff reveals glimpses of the 1968 film, 'Battle of Britain' Total nod to Nirvana, but fun to do!!

Save Your Breath
A we-are-all-over type of deal. The music sounds like a machine churning out the rock/disco effect.

Suburban Scream
This one is about succumbing to that frightening decision to get married and buy a house. You must scream before you let that happen, otherwise, oh I dunno? Quick, Beatley and raw.

Ethnicus
Trible sounds in the studio! A bit like the conquest of America, seabound man-landbound man, it's all down to the history books, what do I know? With a bunch of drums, this song always brings the house down!!

I Don't Want A Single Thing
Another really good song that tells the tale of someone with an overwhelming opinion and at the same time, conveys defiance and retaliation towards that overwhelming opinion. This boasts an old style production, both organic and lush in feel.

Get Away
Pistols a la Nirvana. Obvious lyrics!!

The Ghost
A bizzare but beautiful song about voices in the head, a never ending nightmare!

Black Sabbath - Sabotage Nirvana - Bleach The Beatles - Revolver The Stranglers - Black and White ACDC - Powerage

BLACK SABBATH | "Sabotage"
This is my favourite Sabbath record, the fist side starting with 'Hole in the Sky' right the way through to 'Megolamania' is just classic! Our band always wanted to create the swing of the Sabbath song 'Symptoms of the Universe' with one of our songs mixed with a style of the times, I think our song 'Safer' was the closest we got at that point. Sabotage was a definate influence.

NIRVANA | "Bleach"
This is the best Nirvana record for me because it's really unpolished yet powerful, which was something that I was hoping to achieve with 'Hospital Radio.' The songs are simple with straight forward arrangements, no nonsense. I'd be lying if I said that it wasn't an influence!

THE BEATLES | "Revolver"
I used to listen to my parent's original copy of Revolver over and over again whilst studying the album sleeve. I still do! There are some Beatle-esque moments on Hospital Radio. For me a very influential record, the best one.

THE STRANGLERS | "Black and White"
This is one of my favourite bands and this record oozes their talents in the prime of their career. I love Jet Black's drumming and the Bass is always ballsy. I think Jean Jaque-Burnel is one of the first to really use the Bass guitar in this way, harsh, heavy and up front, just awsome! I'm also a big fan of the production on this record and the next one, which was called 'The Raven'. Just and all round inspiring band for me!

AC/DC | "Powerage"
This is the absolute all inspiring best AC/DC record in my book! It's just when the band had really began to roll into the bigtime and they were high energy balls out rock and roll, no arguement! Although, not quite the same vibe as Hospital Radio, I can safely say that it is a big influence. I'd like to move more in this direction as Jinxremover unfolds into the public.
