The Blackberry Clouds - "Cheap' n' Down." [CD AR -004].
Exciting new stuff from The Blackberry Clouds. These 4 guys, based in M‡laga, move freshly and free inside 70«s rock«n«roll. They show a real feel for gettin' down with blues rock in the vein of the Stones, the hard rock vibe of Deep Purple all with a Garage band twist. Lovers of the vintage sound, The BBC have shown that with the release of their first MCD, "Takin« It Easy Is Our Business", that they can make high-octane rock songs and great compositions, with a tip of the hat towards the best rock n' roll bands ever. They understand how R'n'R is supposed to be. Release Date: May, the 21st, 2001.

Fooz - "Fooz" CD [AR/CH - 001].
Fooz are the keepers of the Golden Chord, purveyors of the Sun Spirit and avatars of the Great Love Vibe. The ebb and flow of the energies of the greats brought directly to your ears. The hallowed spirits of Captain Beyond, Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Captain Beefheart and Blue Cheer all dance to Fooz. The mystical Middle Eastern progressions that were once a large part of Fooz's native Spain mesh freely with incredibly inventive rock 'n' roll. The result is a frenzy of rhythm, sound and feeling. Come taste the Fooz. Release date: early June.

VIAJE A 800 offer great songs with an special feeling and groove, with fantastic songs that make you think why you haven't heard of them before!!!. Songs that talk about life and death experiences, and take you higher with their instrumental passages and slow rhythms. One of the most popular bands in Spain right now.

After the Alone Records' first release, Alone Records and Custom Heavy Records ] presents a new release, a split cd with 2 swedish bands, with a different sound but inside the same genre, with different influences but a similar origin, 70«s rock, a foundation to construct their own musical identity. Generous Maria & Skua deliver a solid and real dose of hard rock happiness, with nods to the forefathers:: Soft Machine, Jimmy Hendrix, Natas, QOTSA, Kyuss... (SKUA); Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, Stooges, Soundgarden...(GM).

OJOROJO MAGAZINE - "1st Issue."
OJOROJO, like the Fu Manchu song. We could have chosen any other stupid name, but we took this one, it has that double meaning... With this fanzine/magazine, we want to promote the bands we like so much, big ones and the not-so-big, offering them our site so they can get more exposure and attention. The main idea is have a good time talking for a while with these bands and help them to get more interest from the music-buying masses. OJOROJO is a mostly a self-produced fanzine, with some help from our friends in some labels and media. We really appreciate their support on this. OJOROJO 1st issue. Our first issue contains the following interviews: Neurosis, The Mystik Krewe of Clearlight, Internal Void, Dragonauta, Skua, Colour Haze, Generous Maria, A5TRO5ONIQ, The Blackberry Clouds, Thumlock, Viaje a 800, Low vibes, Custom Heavy Records and Outlast Records. BURNT HIPPIE RECORDINGS
[ www.burnthippie.dk ]

Burnt Hippie Recordings will release a We/Gas Giant gatefold 12", entitled "Ridin« The Red Horse To The Last Stronghold Of The Freaks" (BHR005) Limited to 500 copies this 12" carries close to 50 minutes of heavy and tripping hard rock.

Track Listing: Gas Giant - "Firetripper", "Never Leave" and "Ride the Red Horse." We- "Last Stronghold of the Freaks", "Raven" and "The Trip."

Gas Giant
hail from Copenhagen Denmark and made their mark last year with their fantastic debut CD, Pleasant Journey in Heavy Tunes. The bands psychedelic stoner rock style combined with catchy tunes allowed the band to receive excellent reviews. These three new songs were recorded in Jan 2001 with the new drummer Kjeld. The songs are heavy but tuneful and the band takes the time and space to really build some great songs that show how well they can play and the production is excellent. This is a taster for the new Gas Giant CD to be released later this year.

WE hail from Oslo Norway and have released 4 CDs, a 7 inch and a fantastic 10" record entitled "From the Spaceways" on Drunken Maria Records last year. These songs are a taster for their new CD, entitled Dinosauric Futurobic, to be released later this year. The band provides an killer stoned groove that just catches you and takes you away to that far away place. This is the most experimental thing the band have done, but also their best. You will be surprised at just how cool these numbers are.

HIGHBEAM MUSIC

DernRutlidge - "Johnny No Stars" [CD - May 14th]
It was in the late 90's that four unassuming guys, originating from various levels of the Melbourne music scene finally succumbed to their respective love of good old fashioned rock. The emerging band would explore mutual musical passions previously unfulfilled by the likes of Christbait (featuring guitarists Jason Miszewski and Craig Westwood), Blood Duster (featuring Jason P.C. on bass) and Drool (featuring drummer Callen O'Hara). Thus, DernRutlidge was born! Over the last couple of years, they have supported the likes of Henry Rollins, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet and the Hellacopters building their array of impressive tunes. DernRutlidge also found time in this period to release two 7" singles and a CD EP titled, "High as the Sun on this Midnight Run" to critical acclaim.

After finishing recording obligations with indie label International Trash the band was approached by a label that felt they could give the band the helping hand they needed. In late 2000 the deal was signed with High Beam Music, the band thought that this label would be the right move. The band almost immediately set to work on their first long player tracked over a few short sessions at Toyland studios with Adam Calatzis and then mixed and mastered by Michael Letho the result being "Johnny No Stars". The first single to be lifted from the album "Lines on the Table", accompanied by the controversially racy video clip has received a huge response and has set the standard for the album of heavy grooves with plenty of interesting twists.

The Search For Delta 9 - "Before Somewhere" [CD Single - May 28th]
New on the scene these guys have quickly created a strong buzz with their exciting brand of laid back groove rock.Think back to early Queens Of The Stone Age/Desert Sessions and you'll get an idea of where this four piece are coming from. These two tracks are taken from their amazing first recording session and give us a great taste of what can be expected on their debut album release set down for later in the year.

Monstrous Blues - " High Octane" [CDEP - May 21st]
A combination of influences spanning several eras of rock n roll appears to have finally molded into what we now know as 'Monstrous Blues'. The band has ex-members of many local Wollongong luminaries including original members of early nineties Atlantic(USA) recording artists Tumbleweed among others. With the only track that the band had recorded before this five track ep grabbing the attention of national radio in Australia and being included on two surfing video's (Pulse 2001, Radio Waves), combined with the fact the band have turned in some killer live shows of late, it is no surprise this is already a highly anticipated release.Five tracks of fuzzed out heavy grooves.

LUNASOUND RECORDING

Isis - "Sgnl 5" [NR 012]
First up is Isis, the ultimate in crushing unstoppable riff intensity. These guys are the true heirs to the Sabbath throne, featuring Aaron Turner (yes he who also appears in Old Man Gloom and owns Hydrahead). With forays into extreme dynamics ("Divine Mother") and stirring ambience ("Beneath Below"), SGNL>05 is the next step in ISIS' evolution; a seething whisper to Celestial's mechanized roar. Featuring a remix courtesy of Justin Broadrick from mighty industrial progenitors Godflesh, the MCD contains four breathtaking suites in all for an unparalleled aural experience.

Vitriol - "I-VII" [NR 013]
Also don't miss out on the incredible Vitriol album, a mesmerising ambient journey into the subconscious of one of the more enigmatic of our latter day noise terrorists, Ben Green of the legendary Godflesh.
MAN'S RUIN

MAY

Beaver - "Mobile" [CD - MR 2012]
Man's Ruin is proud to present the follow up, full length release from Dutch rockers, Beaver. This record is very much in the vein of The Obsessed and Soundgarden. Add in a heap of prog-rock influence (w/o the cheesed out krautrock edge), and you have Beaver.

Bottom - "Feels So Good When You're Gone" [CD - MR 2023]
Oh my lordy! This is highly anticipated release from ny's very own Bottom. Bottom is an all-chick , heavy as fuck rock band. They packed out Emo's at 8:00pm, at the successful Man's Ruin/ Junk SXSW show this past march. Perhaps you saw the 'huge' High Times stoner rock feature which highlighted these lovely ladies (as well as Suplecs and Natas!). Anyhow, this is their second full length release, and if you want it heavy, here it is!

Suplecs - "Sad Songs, Better Days" [CD - MR 2018]
This is the second full length release from these nawlins boys. Featuring ex-members of Eyehategod, these guys play down-n-dirty, groovy, rock. These guys kicked major booty at SXSW this year as well. Check out their feature in high times....May issue!

The Heads - "Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere" [CD - MR 2005]
What can I say about the Heads that has not been said before? First off, they are amazing, and we are so happy to have them release a record with us. This is for fans of The Stooges (check out the guitar tone on this cd, and you will know what im talking about!), Mountain and Sonic Youth. There are certain bands out there that *wish* they could be the Heads, but sadly for them, they can't be! Anyhow, this cd fucking rocks, and you should all keep your eyes and ears open for 'another' US tour later this year!

AUGUST

Begotten - "S/T" [CD - MR 2024]
This is one of the HEAVIER records that has been in Man's Ruin HQ. From NY, these two guys, and one gal really deliver the Doom. Much in the vein of Electric Wizard, Sleep, and The Melvins, this, as stated, is one heavy motherfucker! Check it out!

Trailer Hitch - "Truth Is Fighting" [CD - MR 2019]
The long awaited follow up CD to "Long, Tall Tales..." "Truth Is Fighting" delivers the goods in that patented Trailer Hitch fashion! Much like the Jesus Lizard (cover art done by David Yow!), this is Hard, Chaotic, noisy, and disturbing!

THE MUSIC CARTEL

The Music Cartel announced two new signings. Canadian doomsters Sons of Otis and Indiana's Goliath

Sons Of Otis began their musical adventures in 1992 with the band's original moniker, Otis (dubbed in homage to the character of the same name from the cult film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer) Their first release was the Paid To Suffer EP released on Canada1s Hypnotic label. Following their 1996 full-length release, SpaceJumboFudge, the band spent the following 3 years writing new material and looking for a new drummer. In 1998, reknowned artist and Man's Ruin Records guru Frank Kozik released Templeball on an unsuspecting, yet fully-satisfied audience. Sons Of Otis have rightfully earned the reputation of being one of the heaviest bands around. Known for their trance-like neuron-firing live performances which include spinning lights and smoke machines, Sons of Otis proves to audiences everywhere that they can summon spaceships and create supernovas. Sons of Otis have shared the stage with Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Voivod, Electric Wizard and Shallow North Dakota. Check out Sons Of Otis at www.sonsofotis.com

Goliath is the brianchild of Mick Rowe. Rowe originally hails from Indiana, and has been writing and recording music for some time now. Rowe grew tired of the current music scene and trends and started a quest to write music that honestly expressed his innermost feelings, both good and dark. Rowe originally started this musical and spiritual journey under the name Midnight Orchestra and through the internet, found that there was a sizeable audience for his music. By virtue of this, Midnight Orchestra (and eventually Goliath) virtually ruled the MP3.com charts for a year's time--the Goliath track "The Gate" still sits atop the MP3.com Doom/Stoner chart. Goliath soon joined the cutting edge record label, E-Magine Entertainment. Unfortunately, the untimely demise of the label left Goliath in search of a new home. The Music Cartel quickly stepped in and signed the band to a deal. Check out Goliath at:www.iamgoliath.com

Priority releases on The Music Cartel this year have included Sea of Green, Electric Wizard, and Roachpowder. Upcoming releases include new works by Mammoth Volume and Hangnail (5/22/01), Deride (6/12/01), Industrial F**king Strength 3 (7/31/01), a Pink Floyd tribute (featuring Clawfinger, Electric Frankenstein, Shadow's Fall, Codeseven, Murphy's Law and many more). In addition to heavy rock, metal and stoner rock releases, the label is also home to many cutting-edge electronic releases such as Hans Platzgumer (Aura Anthropica and H.P. Zinker) and Headcase (the solo effort of Dean Garcia of Curve fame) and hardcore techno compilations from New York's Industrial Strength Records.
