UFOMAMMUT
Urlo:
2006.
Happy this year is over.
Lots of gigs around Europe, from Roadburn Festival to Uk, from
Germany to Italy.
I guess too many gigs...
We played our last gig beginning of November and then we stopped.
Started working on different projects.
New songs, “FarwestZombee” and some delays.
Time to think, time to change, time for the Mammut to rise again soon.
Talk about Malleus: This has been a great year for advancing our
poster-art with our participation at Flatstock Europe in Hamburg [the first great poster
art convention], and having our posters seen all around Europe, through our work for a lot of cool bands.
More than this, our label SUPERNATURAL CAT is getting bigger with its
second release "Morkobot - Mostro" having a lot of interest surrounding it.
New projects are coming: a lot of posters, dolls, paintings and many
more things, new bands to produce and we hope to see you all soon on
the road and at Roadburn Festival in 2007 with a special poster series!

- Morkobot – "Mostro"
- Liars - "Drum's Not Dead"
- OM - "Conference of the Birds"
VALKYRIE
Jake:
2006 was a great year for Valkyrie, our first full length came out in January. It was well received, and we were pleased with it as well. In 2006 we were blessed with two new members- Gary Isom, and Will Barry-Rec. Gary is by far the best drummer I have ever played alongside, and he brings such a brutal energy to every show, hitting the drums hard as hell and playing like each show is his last. Will's positive mentality and high energy, as well as his determination, not to mention his musical talent have brought so much to Valkyrie as well.
This past year we were able to do a few shows in the northeast and midatlantic US, and some of the highlights included good shows and good times with Cincinnatti's Angels of Meth, Earthride, Unorthodox, Atomic Bitchwax, and Bible of the Devil.
As far as my favorites for the year -I don't listen to too much new music, but Starchild - "Born into Eternity", Place of Skulls - "The Black is Never Far", and Reino Ermitano - "Brujas Del Mar" were probably my faves. I have been listening to more stuff like Camel, Lucifer's Friend, and Fuzzy Duck more than anything else.
WALL OF SLEEP
Gabor:
2006 was a little quite for us, like a calm before the storm. We
started to write new material for a new album, called "Stabat Mater" which will be
recorded in March / April and will be released in May. The new material is heading
Towards a real doom-riff orgy, and I think it will be the heaviest album
from us 'till now...
We tried to secure a new deal, and it seems we'll get a new contract very
soon -we‘re very close to ink the deal. We just thought that we needed a
little bit more promotion, and better distribution to spread our gospel among the doom-underground.
Next to recording a new album, we're likely to play Germany's Stoned From The Underground Festival in July. There will be
a "Flag of Doom Vol.4" event in Budapest with Trouble, Wall of Sleep and some other cool bands.

- Grand Magus – "Wolf's Return"
- The Hidden Hand – "Devoid of Color"
- Iron Maiden – "A Matter of Life and Death"
WE
Krisvaag:
WE continued the never-ending tour that is Smugglers Tour. 2006 was
spent in Europe and USA, starting off in march with SXSW in Texas and
some shows in California, right after releasing Smugglers in Europe.
WE was scheduled for 15 dates with Monster Magnet which got cancelled
due to Wyndorf's pretty nasty OD. WE did some german shows, before
touring with Tribe After Tribe in May and June on festivals like Rock
am Ring, Rock Im Park and shows with Queensryche, Whitesnake and
Journey [!]
A short summer-break, then Wacken Open Air, Popkomm and a
10 date German tour being special guests for Mötorhead, which, by the
way, has never been better. So 2006 pretty much were about touring to
say the least.
On the other hand, WE [through our label] signed and released a power-
trio from Norway called Jaqueline and released their album Reaping
Machines in Norway to massive reviews. These boys average 22 yrs. of
age, and the album will be out in most of Europe 2007, check them
out. A 2006 edition of space-rock meets metal meets rock meets the
devil. The album is engineered and produced by
WE"s Don Dons.
WE also wrote the rough skeleton for the next WE album which WE is
recording as we speak.

- Robert Plant - "Nine Lives"
- V/A - "Drunk In A Ditch - Songs From Rocklimbo"
- Jaqueline - "Reaping Machines"
WINTERS
Andy:
2006 was a great year for Winters! We hooked up with lee Dorrian after he came to see us
playing our 4th gig in london back in March, impressed by the gig & the demo recordings
he then offered us a deal with Rise Above over a few beers.
The debut 4 Track EP came out in November on CD & vinyl, and featured 4 songs recorded by the band. The rest of the year we spent writing our debut album "Black Clouds In Twin Galaxies" and was recorded in Nov / Dec with producer Dan Swift.
We would like to add that it is a real honour for Winters to be working with Lee & Will - Rise Above! The album
release date should be; March 27th.

- Possessed – "Exploration"
- Melvins – "(A) Senile Animal"
- Failure – "Essentials"
WOOLY MAMMOTH
Zac:
2006 was another stellar year for Wooly Mammoth. We started everything off by finalizing the mixes for our debut full-length, "The Temporary Nature" and permanently moving our rehearsals to the barn where we recorded the album. We immediately began writing what has become our best material to date and set up an East Coast tour with Year Long Disaster which proved to be a good pairing and made for some amazing shows.
In June we had the rare and beautiful opportunity to open for a band that is a true legend, the one and only, Blue Cheer. The show was in our hometown of Washington, D.C. at The Black Cat and it was truly incredible. Blue Cheer is one of the bands that made me want to play guitar and certainly a major influence on the overall sound and psychedelic approach of Wooly Mammoth. It was beyond exciting to be on stage playing one of our tightest, heaviest sets ever, in front of an enthusiastic audience, only to look to the side of the stage and see Dickie Peterson and Paul Whaley rocking out and cheering us on with big grins on their faces. It was easily one of the best nights of my life. And to make it even cooler Dead Meadow was on the bill as well.
We continued to write and demo new material and played shows with great bands like The Hidden Hand, Bad Wizard, and Dixie Witch, and in October “The Temporary Nature” was released. The positive reviews came like a flood and we were pleased to notice how many copies were selling. We really poured a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making that album and the fact that people appreciate and enjoy it make it all worth while.
The year ended on a high note with a sold out New Years Eve performance in Baltimore, Md. opening for The Sword and Clutch. We couldn’t have had a better time if we tried.
Things definitely look good for Wooly Mammoth in 2007. We plan on hitting the road for a lot more extensive touring and we’ll also be recording a new album. We are confident that the new material is heavier, creepier, and more unique than anything we’ve offered before and we’re looking forward to traveling further into the future…

- Pearls And Brass – "The Indian Tower"
- Melvins - "(A) Senile Animal"
- OM – "Conference Of Birds"
