Spiritual Beggars Recording New Album

Spiritual Beggars, the Swedish band featuring Arch Enemy guitarist Michael Amott, has entered the studio to begin recording its new album for a late 2010 release. According to Amott, Sharlee D’Angelo finished up his bass tracks in two days. “It’s very heavy and with a groove and swagger that only the D’Angelo/[Ludwig] Witt [drums] combo can deliver!” he added.

Spiritual Beggars

Spiritual Beggars’ last album, Demons, was released in Europe in June 2005 via InsideOut Music. The follow-up to 2002’s On Fire was recorded at Slaughterhouse Studio with Rickard Bengtsson and was mixed by Fredrik Nordström and Patrik J. Sten at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. Mastering duties were handled by Göran Finnberg. The album cover art was conceived by Niklas Sundin of Cabin Fever Media.

Triptykon: First Concerts In Japan

We feel extremely honored to be able to announce Triptykon’s first concerts in Japan. These shows will be part of the Extreme The Dojo Vol. 25 tour, and Triptykon will play as double-headliners with Nile. The special guest for these concerts will be German group Obscura.

Orange Goblin: Album Plans Postponed And Other News

Orange Goblin have announced that due to various circumstances, there will be no new album for the foreseeable future.

‘With everybody’s commitments to work, family and other things, we have decided that it is best that we do not commit to any deadline for the next album as we wouldn’t want to rush and deliver a record that we are not 100% happy with. Song writing will continue as and when we can but we honestly couldn’t say when we will be ready to go into the studio to record again, it will definitely NOT be in 2010. Please rest assured that it will happen but sometimes it is better to stop and think of what is best for Orange Goblin as a band!’

In other related news: Orange Goblin will be one of the bands donating a track to a new Metal Hammer compilation album paying homage to the masters of Heavy Metal, Black Sabbath. OG will contribute their as yet to be recorded cover of ‘Symptom Of The Universe’. Other bands that will be featured include Electric Wizard amongst others.

Gods & Goddesses pairs Brant Bjork, originating from Kyuss, Fu Manchu, Ch’e with producer Ethan Allen, best known for his work with Tricky, Luscious Jackson, Gram Rabbit and The 88 and former tour mate, Billy Cordell of the acclaimed Yawning Man. The Los Angeles based desert-founded rock band—vocalist/guitarist Brant Bjork, guitarist Billy Cordell, bassist Brandon Henderson and Italian drummer Giampaolo Farnedi—recorded
Gods & Goddesses in Los Angeles in late 2009.

The album follows 2008’s Punk Rock Guilt, which experienced a career high for the group, which acquired endless reviews in both 2008 and 2009 and with steady worldwide digital downloads. His 2007 release Somera Sol and Tres Dias have sold fans worldwide. Melvins To Release ‘The Bride Screamed Murder’ In June

The Melvins will release a new album, The Bride Screamed Murder, on June 1 via Ipecac Recordings. A U.S. tour will launch the same day in San Diego and include a stop at the Bonnaroo Festival. The Bride Screamed Murder is the third release featuring Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover and Big Business’ s Coady Willis and Jared Warren.

Cult of Luna released a hardback book / audiobook called Eviga Riket on February 23 via C.O.L Press. According to the band, the book is “a short story covering the life and times of Mr. Holger Nilsson, the full story behind the Eternal Kingdom [Cult of Luna's latest album] theme. The book will be bilingual, written in Swedish and translated into English. The narrated versions of this short story is accompanied by newly written Cult of Luna pieces and soundscapes.”
