Song Premiere: Sinistro – Relíquia; Band To Play Roadburn 2016

Posted on Friday, January 29th, 2016

This afternoon, we’re pleased to bring you the premiere of a brand new Sinistro track. Taken from their forthcoming album, Semente, due out via Season of Mist on April 8th‘Relíquia’ is the first track to be unveiled.

Sinistro: “Relíquia is about an old lady revisiting past memories and daydreaming about them in order to escape her present state of solitude. The landscape of her memory is her real world.”

José Dinis (director): “The vídeo was shot in a perfect sunny day where vivid colors were consumed by the melancholic tones of this song cast in a black and white screen, creating a set of perfect intimacy and sympathy with the character.”

We can tell you that Semente is of the most exciting records we here at Roadburn have heard in a long, long time. The way its enveloping darkness unfolds like a creeping mist, the way Patrícia Andrade‘s hauntingly theatrical vocals wrap themselves around the musical shadows.

There is atmosphere, but also drive, there are textures, but also beats. Semente is a flowing, ethereal yet very concrete, unclassifiable journey that every Roadburner worth his / her salt will want to get lost in.

Portugal‘s Sinistro are for now one of the best secrets in the European scene, and we are both proud and excited to be a part of what will surely be a tremendous revelation in 2016.  They will play Roadburn 2016 in the Green Room, on Friday, April 15, and we can’t wait!
