In Remembrance: Ronald Herregraven

Posted on Sunday, March 31st, 2013

The news that Ronald Herregraven ultimately lost the battle against cancer has left us stunned and deeply saddened.

We met Ro, a fervent Motorpsycho fan and bass player for 7Zuma7, way back when Roadburn Festival was just starting out. He lent us a hand at several editions over the years, including the ones hosted by the Doornroosje in Nijmegen, and we moved in the same musical circles, sharing a lot of the same friends and meeting many times at tons of great shows, and of course all of the Roadburn happenings.

A gifted bass player, Ro also played in The Liszt. Ro recently recorded his last ever songs with the band. A four track album, Those Days Are Gone, can be streamed below.

All proceeds from album sales will be donated to No Guts No Glory, a Dutch foundation that raises funds to help offset cancer treatment costs not covered by insurance, as well as provide support to patients.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife Danielle, his daughter Evi, his family and friends.

Ro, you’ll be missed.
Walter on behalf of Jurgen, Yvonne and Roadburn.

Ronald Herregraven

Album of the day: Kawabata Makoto’s Mainliner – Revelation Space

Posted on Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

Lovingly pinched from Beardrock: Lift off the needle. Is there an unearthly amount of dust on there? A thought then occurs, of course – it’s the new Mainliner album. For the uninitiated, Mainliner are most certainly one of the seminal Japanese underground psych pioneers of the 1990’s. I think Trading […]
