After their monolithic, overwhelming performance at Roadburn‘s pre-sales party, we’re very pleased to announce that Swedish drone / doom behemoths Switchblade have also been confirmed for Roadburn 2013‘s Afterburner on Sunday, April 21st at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.
We simply needed to come full circle in bringing them back, as Switchblade has made a huge impact this year, not only at the aforementioned pre-sales party, but also with the release of their latest, 6th self-titled album.
Thriving on a stripped-down approach of repetitive, slow-burning riffs, heavy slow-mo prog moves, and even hypnotic grooves bolstered by a thrumming, sinister hammond organ, Switchblade utilize their keep-it-simple aesthetic to flesh out a skeletal, haunting doom plod.
Joining drummer Tim Bertilsson and guitarist Johan Folkesson for their one-off Roadburn performance are Per Wiberg (Ex-Opeth and Spiritual Beggars, amongst others) on Hammond organ and Kongh‘s David Johansson (vocals).
Roadburn Festival 2013 will run for four days from Thursday, April 18th to Sunday, April 21st, 2013 (the traditional Afterburner event) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Tickets for the Afterburner are still available!

Awesome! Now if only we could get The Cuckoo for vocals that would be truly mind blowing stuff!
