We are super excited to announce that seminal krautrock / psych / post-rock heavyweights Maserati will be appearing at Roadburn 2013 on Thursday, April 18 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Their style is rather atypical post-rock, combining krautrock rhythms inspired by the likes of Neu!, space rock in the vein of Pink Floyd, and a Giorgio Moroder-esque penchant for epic composition.
Maserati released their latest album earlier this year (Maserati VII), their first album that did not contain any material played by tragically deceased drummer Jerry Fuchs. Happily, the music on Maserati VII continues in the motorikly-propelled direction of their earlier releases, the relentless drums bolstering a heavily psychedelic guitar approach, and a sound that doesn’t shy away from liberal electronic flourishes.
Listening to Maserati is like joyriding in a landspeeder through Las Vegas on a moonless night — relentless forward motion revealing a kaleidoscopic constellation of lights and textures. You are propelled by the sparse, taut drumming on a dazzling, friction free ride accompanied by the sound of spiraling guitars with no need to worry about speed limits or traffic signals…
Obi-Wan is riding shotgun laying down a tight funky baseline and standing ready to use the force on any irritating police that might meddle in your psychedelic ride. We are very much looking forward to experiencing Maserati at Roadburn 2013.
Roadburn Festival 2013 will run for four days from Thursday, April 18th to Sunday, April 21st, 2013 (the traditional Afterburner event) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. Tickets for the Afterburner are still available!
