The Day After The Sabbath is a blog specialising in regular compilations of obscure heavy 60s and 70s rock. It’s Rich’ aim to reveal the secret world of bands that were inspired by the early psychedelic, doom and hard rock greats but were too short-lived, un-commercial or just plain unlucky to the gain the recognition that they probably deserved at the time. “This volume is dedicated to heavy 60s and 70s bands from the “the land of song”, Wales”, says Rich, “I found that though the welsh rock family tree was quite incestuous during this period, it spawned some amazing talent. Historically, the band “Eyes Of Blue” seems to have been a very important starting point for a lot of this talent.
They lead directly to one of my favourite albums of all time, Ancient Grease’s “Women and Children First” (1970), from which I include the track ‘Eagle Song’. You may have noticed the glaring omission of a particular ornithologically-named band here, though I am sure most of you know them pretty well already…”
All my previous compilations from can be found at my BLOG and I’m sure any of you who are intrigued by the more obscure history of heavy rock will find a lot of great surprises.”
