Monday, November 20th. Egypt is in turmoil. Cairo is burning, tens of thousands of protesters are in the streets. By now over 40 people have been killed, thousands are injured – it looks like it’s only gonna get worse. All hell is breaking loose, the real revolution has just begun – people understood that even if tyrant ruler Mubarak was removed, the same thugs control the military and hence the country. People are dying for their freedom.
On the other side of the world in New York City, a Cairo born artist affiliated with the underground metal scene is having a very big night. It’s now or never for him, and everyone involved in an idea that seemed pretty crazy from the beginning.
His name is Nader Sadek and until recently he’s only been known for producing the stage masks /costumes for Attila Cshiar of Mayhem / Sunn O))) fame. Lately however he’s made a bit of a buzz with a Death Metal musical project carrying his own name. Having a very interesting concept in mind – human’s dependency on petroleum, the biggest discovery but also the biggest tragedy – he’s managed to lure and capture the imagination of some serious names in the scene. Steve Tucker (ex-Morbid Angel), Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy) and Rune Eriksen (Aura Noir, Ava Inferi, ex-Mayhem).
On November 20th, the long awaited first live incarnation of Nader Sadek took place at Santos in New York City. Nader created quite a hype about this show, which was in his vision from the very beginning – with the album out, this remained the second and most important step to be taken.”
