Acrostichon and The Gathering (Original Lineup) Charity Show at w2, Den Bosch, Holland

Roadburn‘s very own Rich ‘Robotmonster’ Schouten is not only a gifted graphic artist, he’s also a part of dutch death metal pioneers Acrostichon.

Acrostichon has been around since 1989, and the band garnered a cult  following over the years after the release of their debut album, Engraved in Black. Heavily dynamic, Engraved In Black contrasts plenty of Autopsy / Trouble / Sabbath-style slow, doomy parts with more furiously- paced death metal, as well as plenty of crushing mid-tempo sections. It’s all topped off with the impressive brutal deep throated growls of  Corinne Van Den Brand who was one of the only significant female death metal vocalists of that time. Engraved in Black has recently been re-released on Momento Mori.

Now, Achrosticon is teaming up with Pentacle and The Gathering for a special  performance at the w2 in Den Bosch, Holland on April 1st, 2012. The Gathering, who also  played a pivitol part in the dutch death metal scene, will reunite in their original lineup (Frank Boeijen, Hugo Prinsen Geerligs, Hans Rutten, René Rutten, Bart Smits and Jelmer Wiersma), only to play songs from their classic debut  album, Always, and only for this occasion.

And if all this dutch death metal nostalgia wasn’t enough to get you kickstarted to be part of this amazing event, all proceeds will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
