Official Artwork Roadburn Festival 2012 by Voivod’s Michel “Away” Langevin

We’re extremely proud to unveil the official artwork for the 2012 festival by Voivod’s Michel “Away” Langevin. Inspired by sci-fi art of the 50’s, 60’s op art and early 80′s computer-game robotic creatures from another galaxy, Away depicts Roadburn as a head spinning, extraterrestrial invasion from a world far beyond the outer limits that only he could imagine.

Michel’s artistic take on Roadburn is like an intergalactic concoction exploding in your head — it’s a trip through another dimension — evoking gargantuan riffs in your mind’s ear while you explore those vast planets your mind creates. It’s an absolute honor to have his extraordinary brand of art as the official artwork for Roadburn 2012, as it’s in perfect consonance with the festival’s left-field sonic approach.
