Fan filmed video footage of Wadruna performing at Roadburn Festival 2011 on April 14, 2011 at the Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland can be viewed below:
Kvitrafn and fellow musicians Gaahl and Lindy Fay Hella explore the history of Norwegian mythology and paganism using traditional instruments such as goat and cow horns and bowed lyres. More unorthodox “instruments” such as trees, stones and fire are also incorporated into Wadruna‘s unique sound, which is further augmented by powerful vocal performances from several vocalists.
Nearly six years in the making, Wardruna received rave reviews for their mesmerizing 2009 debut Gap Var Ginnunga, the first in the planned Runaljod trilogy that interprets the runes of the elder futhark. Gap Var Ginnunga will be released on vinyl on Burningworld Records in June.
