Roadburn Festival 2011: David V. D’Andrea’s Wovenhand and Circle Posters
Posted on Saturday, March 12th, 2011
We’re proud to unveil David V. D’Andrea‘s next installment of his Roadburn series: the Wovenhand and Circle posters.
David comments: “I cannot think of another band of recent years that has inspired me as deeply as Wovenhand. David Eugene Edwards’ song writing, poetry, and approach to life and spirituality embody much of what I would hope for in my own artwork. The album “The Threshing Floor” evokes visions of a lush garden full of Eastern pattern and ghostly fauna, of human kind walking the crushingly beautiful, light filled, wandering path.”
“Circle…. on one hand, they are so eclectic that the most off-the-wall drawing might work. On the other hand, they are so incredibly varied and odd that it’s a challenge to think up an image that captures their essence!
I chose to start with a skull, since most of their existing designs are based around them. Then, by Jussi’s request, the piece then took a turn towards a nautical “Jules Verne” theme. I like to think of it is a sort of occult compass, which is somehow fitting for the festival’s 2011 “artist in residence”!

Album of the day: Grails – Deep Politics
Posted on Thursday, March 10th, 2011
Lovingly pinched from Dusted Magazine: Standard issue post-rock isn’t usually this cinematic. Heists, dates, slasher flicks, the spaghetti western — the best of the canon’s tropes can be heard on Grails’ Deep Politics in pretty imitative counterpoint. And a lot of the credit, this time around at least, has to ...read more
Album of the day: Queens of the Stone Age – Queens of the Stone Age (Reissue)
Posted on Wednesday, March 9th, 2011
Lovelingly pinched from Pitchfork: It was fitting that the final release from Kyuss featured a cover of Black Sabbath’s ‘Into the Void’, because throughout their seven-year existence, the Palm Desert quartet essentially existed in one– the band’s devastating stoner-rock earned the respect of various celebrity admirers (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and ...read more

Lovingly pinched from Lurker: France has a tradition of producing fiercely independent black metal and Neige Morte, from Lyons, are no different.
