Lecherous Gaze Unveils New Song Phaze

Posted on Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Lecherous Gaze will release a four song self-titled EP on March 29 via Tee Pee Records. Rising from the smoldering ashes of punk rock powerhouse Annihilation Time, the group has added vocalist Lakis Panagiotopulos and is set to unleash “a frenzy-inducing stew of awesomeness” both live and on record.  AOL Noisecreep rolls out the new Lecherous Gaze track ‘Phaze’, calling the song “dirty, punky” and “distinct”.  Check out the AOL premiere of ‘Phaze’ now at this location.

In addition to Panagiotopulos, Lecherous Gaze features guitarist Graham Clise, bassist Chris Grande and drummer Noel Sullivan.

Born of a downtown Oakland flophouse once noted for housing members of High on Fire, Saviours and Drunk Horse, Lecherous Gaze delivers thundering, accelerated hard rock that has described (perhaps awkwardly) as “Molly Hatchet drunk on cider, playing Blitz covers and fronted by Joey Ramone”.  Steeped in the Hendrixian guitar-god worship of bombastic 70′s rock and the mixed company rawness of Chuck Berry, Black Flag and Black Sabbath, the band’s impressive musicianship and gnarly vibe blurs the lines between Punk and Hard Rock while front man Panagiotopulos’ soulful timbres inspire comparisons to the legendary larynges of Joey Ramone and Glenn Danzig.

The track listing for Lecherous Gaze is as follows:

1.Phaze

2.Sold

3.Graveyard

4. R’n’R Lust

Previous to the March release of the new EP, Lecherous Gaze will appear on a three-way split 12 inch LP with label mates Earthless and Portland glam rockers Danava and will also perform as part of the 2011 SXSW Festival in Austin, TX.

Album of the day: Mount Carmel – Mount Carmel

Posted on Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Praise for Mount Carmel‘s self-titled album from Still Single: Plenty of bands drink from the well of tribute, allowing their vision to plateau in service of authenticity or Good Time Charlie-ism, because it’s fun and familiar, and for some quite easy to achieve. Mount Carmel is that rare band that ...read more
