Album of the day: White Mice – Ganjahovahdose

Posted on Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Lovingly pinched from TinyMixTapes: Aside from the fact that White Mice are now seasoned noise rock pros with a perversely polished, fleshed-out, well-developed idea and sound, it’s hard to figure out why their stagnancy works. Sonically, there are indications of only a modicum of exploration and development, detectable only to ...read more

Album of the day: Krallice – Dimensional Bleedthrough

Posted on Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Lovingly pinched from About.com: Heavy Metal: For those who kick and scream over the degree to which a band is “grim,” stop reading this now. Krallice don’t engage in a more-evil-than-thou pissing contest because, for better or worse, they aren’t really your prototypical black metal dudes. And one of the ...read more

Album of the day: Jarboe – Mahakali

Posted on Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Lovingly pinched from Brainwashed: Jarboe is an artist that is very much at the mercy of her collaborators; a strong band behind her and she flourishes but accompanied by a weaker artist she flounders. This has made for a patchy career, the dizzying power of her performances with Swans has ...read more

Album of the day: Them Crooked Vultures – S/T

Posted on Monday, November 16th, 2009

Lovingly pinched from BBC Music: Supergroups are traditionally awful – from Blind Faith onwards, bands composed of people from other acts generally feature the worst of each ensemble, possibly as the members keep all the good songs for themselves. There are notable exceptions to the rule, of course – the ...read more
