Dickie Peterson, Bassist and Singer for Blue Cheer, passed away this morning at 5am in Germany. Causes still have not been released to the public, I learned of his death through the Blue Cheer Myspace and Facebook accounts. Truly a legend, a man who was credited for introducing a proto metal sound which eventually snowballed into Heavy Metal. I will defiantly miss him, a great example of how your never to old to love rock n’ roll!
“I am heartbroken to have to announce that my friend and an icon, Dickie Peterson, has died this morning in Germany. He was a true rock and roller and lived to play. He will be missed. Love you Dickie.” – Gabrielle Person who runs page.

This is a great loss. I’m so happy I got the chance to see Blue Cheer perform live twice during the last three years, after having enjoyed their early albums half my life.
Without any exeggeration, I can say they totally KICKED ASS both times.
Blue cheer were one of the very few still-active bands from the golden age of music that delivered the goods with all the energy, ferocity & precision that you could hope for.
Dickie also made an impression on me after one of these shows at the merchandise stand. His modesty and genuine enthousiasm to his fans warmed my heart. To me, he was a true RnR hero, one of the good guys. I’m deeply saddened by this news and wish his family/friends the strength to cope with this loss.
R.I.P. Dickie
We zullen je missen, geweldige vent die geweldige muziek maakte.
RIP
