Long-running D.C. doom legends Pentagram, alongside co-headliner Trouble and Holland’s very own The Devil’s Blood, have been confirmed for a Roadburn Presents event to take place Monday, October 12th at the 013 club in Tilburg, The Netherlands. Pre Sales has started, Saturday, June 20th, for tickets please click here.
Pentagram: to the enlightened few they are one of the primary architects of heavy metal and obvious progenitors of doom metal, while to others they are a total mystery.
It is a conundrum how a band (or more specifically the sole remaining original member, the skeletal Bobby Liebling) can triumphantly survive countless harsh travails to release a limited yet astonishingly influential back catalogue and still remain largely unknown to people outside the hermetic, subterranean world of doom.
Pentagram had an inestimable influence on todays burgeoning metal, stoner and psychedelic scene. Indeed we at Roadburn feel that Pentagram is on par with recognized pioneers such as Black Sabbath, Hawkwind and Celtic Frost!
In celebration of these lesser-acknowledged doom giants and their vocal iconoclast Bobby Liebling, Pentagram will perform an exclusive show in the Benelux. For the first time in history the band will grace a stage in the Netherlands.
Joining Pentagram are Chicago purveyors of doom, Trouble. Since 1984, these legendary doomsters have been blowing audiences’ minds with impassioned live performances drawing from epic and psychedelic albums like “Psalm 9″ and “Manic Frustration” that can soothe beasts and enrage saints all at once. Not to be missed. Also, Trouble’s upcoming performance marks the Dutch debut of their new singer, Kory Clarke of Warrior Soul fame.
Adding a different dimension to the proceedings are the fantastic horror rock sounds of The Devil’s Blood. Coupling Bible verses, occult imagery and tales of substance abuse, sex and death, The Devil’s Blood is bound to appeal to those who realize that the psychedelic era was as much about Roky Erikson, Anthony LaVey, Kenneth Anger and the Manson Family as it was about free love, LSD and fucked up hippies.
Fans of Pentagram and Trouble should definitely take notice of the bands highly-acclaimed debut EP, “Come Reap.”
